Object history

In southern Gaul (Provence?) in the 7th century; collection of Claude Fabri de Peiresc (1580-1637) in Aix-en-Provence, before 1625; offered by Peiresc to Cardinal Francesco Barberini (1597-1679) during his visit to Aix on October 26, 1625; Barberini collection in Rome until 1899; acquired in Paris, in July 1899; placed on deposit by the AGER department in the Department of Decorative Arts on January 13, 1938.
